2025 Big Man Chamberlain Burgess Sets BYU and Illinois Official Visits

Date:

BYU continues to lock down official visits for the 2025 class over the coming months. The latest one is 2025 big man Chamberlain Burgess. Chamberlain and his dad tell me that they have scheduled official visits with BYU and Illinois. Chamberlain will visit Illinois October 11-12 and BYU October 25-26.

Chamberlain had a huge summer that saw him jump on the radar and receive offers from major college programs. He is rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and a high 3-star by On3, the #145 player in the class. 247 Sports has yet to give him a rating but have indicated he’ll likely start at high 3-star status when they refresh rankings.

The 6-foot-9 rising senior prepped at Lone Peak but transferred to play at Orem HS for his senior year. His dad Josh and mom Ashleigh both played basketball for BYU. His uncle Chris Burgess is a current BYU assistant. He comes from a BYU family and has deep ties to the school.

On the court, Burgess can play either the 4 or 5 with his long and athletic frame. He can protect the rim, space the floor, and is a good passer. He will need to add some weight to compete at the high-major level, but he has plenty of time to do that, especially with his mission. He’s not quite as tall as former Utah big man Branden Carlson, but I see a lot of similarities between the two with their ability to stretch and run the floor.

Chamberlain has told me he plans to serve a LDS mission before enrolling in school, meaning he would join a program in 2027. You can read more here of what Chamberlain told me back in July after he received his BYU offer.

You can watch highlights of Chamberlain below.
