2025 NFL mock draft roundup: Bears remain focused on trenches

Date:

The Chicago Bears are making moves ahead of free agency, which includes trading for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson to shore up the team’s biggest weakness. But the work is far from done.

With free agency less than a week away, the Bears are expected to be active (even after their recent trades) with $50.35 million in salary cap space, per Over the Cap, which is the 14th most in the NFL. They also have four picks inside the Top 75 of the NFL draft, including the 10th overall pick and two second rounders, to shore up key positions of need.

We’ve rounded up the latest 2025 NFL mock drafts, where experts still believe the Bears are looking to target offensive line with the 10th overall selection (or possibly edge rusher).

USA Today: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

USA Today’s Tyler Dragon: “Caleb Williams was sacked 68 times during his rookie season, which was the third-highest in NFL history. Chicago must upgrade its offensive line to protect the 2024 No. 1 overall pick better.”

NFL.com: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

NFL.com’s Charles Davis: “The Bears are already getting aggressive in the rebuilding of their offensive line, and that work continues in the draft. With Banks at left tackle and 2023 first-round pick Darnell Wright at right tackle, they have their bookends on the O-line for the next decade.”

The Athletic: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain: “You know the GIF of Kylo Ren screaming, “More!” in “The Last Jedi”? That’s what I’ll post to social media if the Bears take an offensive lineman at No. 10. Why not keep adding? Membou dominated the combine, posting the second-best 40-yard dash among offensive linemen, fourth-best vertical, best broad jump and the second-most reps on the bench press.”

CBS Sports: Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall

CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards: “When Chicago acquired offensive guards Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney, it essentially wiped away the need to address the offensive line at No. 10 overall, and my first thought was that Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty could come into play. However, I think Ben Johnson is reasonable enough to recognize that this roster is still more than one player away. Fix the defensive line before worrying about the running back.”

Yahoo! Sports: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

Yahoo! Sports’ Nate Tice: “Despite concerns about his arm length, everything else is there for Campbell to be a solid NFL tackle. With Darnell Wright already in place on the right side, he and Campbell could be the tandem that keeps Caleb Williams upright for years to come.”

Sports Illustrated: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State

Sports Illustrated’s Bryan Fischer: “Simmons’s knee injury late in the season zapped any momentum he had in becoming an elite tackle atop the draft, but it sounds like teams are very confident he can get back to the kind of form he was trending toward at OSU. With him in the fold, a free agent addition on the interior and perhaps a guard drafted on Day 2, Caleb Williams could see his protection issues fade away after one offseason.”

Pro Football Network: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State

Pro Football Network’s Brentley Weissman: “I think Simmons is a name we will see gaining more steam as a potential top-10 pick as we get closer to the draft. He may be coming off an injury, but he is a high-end pass protector with very good athleticism and length. Building around Caleb Williams is paramount, and adding an athletic tackle like Simmons would be very wise. Look for him to earn his way into the Chicago Bears’ starting lineup in Year 1.”

FOX Sports: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

FOX Sports’ Carmen Vitali: “Sure, Will Campbell is still on the board from LSU. I’m not docking him because of his short arms, because that would be silly. He knows his leverage points. If anything, I’m docking him because of all the penalties he costed the Tigahs last season. But that’s still not why I chose Banks over Campbell. Banks has position flexibility. He has experience both outside and inside. With the way the Bears have had terrible luck along their front, injury and otherwise, they need guys that can move around. That’s not usually a recipe for success on a unit that thrives off continuity, but if you can get a guy who has the skill set to do it, it can’t hurt.”

NBC Sports: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri

NBC Sports’ Kyle Dvorchak: “Another combine standout, Membou, who also had some position concerns, recorded a 9.89 RAS on the back of a sub-5.0 forty time at 332 pounds. His arm length of 33.5” is adequate and more than enough to silence the guard allegations. The Bears are the floor for Membou and New England at No. 4 overall could be his ceiling.”
