#23 Nebraska WBB Takes on Doane in Exhibition Play

Date:

The Husker women are ranked in both the AP and coaches poll. After their sizzling end to the 2023-24 season, it isn’t a surprise they are receiving some attention. Nebraska lost a big contributor in WNBA draft pick Jaz Shelley (graduation) but returns a solid front court in All-Big Ten selections Alexis Markowski and Natalie Potts. Jess Petrie and Kendall Coley provide experienced rotational depth behind them.

Five-star recruit Britt Prince is expected to fill some of the holes left by Shelley. Nebraska also returns a bevy of guards with starting experience in Allison Weidner (who has misssed two seasons to injury), Logan Nissley, Kendall Moriarty, and Callin Hake.

It will be fun to see the newcomers, including Prince. Kennadi Williams (Coach Amy’s daughter), and Florida transfer Alberte Rimdal round out the backcourt. Wing Amiah Hargrove and power forward Petra Bozan add some height and additional depth that was somewhat lacking in the front court last year (I can’t complain about Nebraska’s front court last year at all, but the Huskers were an injury away from being perilously thin in numbers there).

Head coach Amy Williams has shown that she plays her entire roster, so we should know quickly if any redshirts are planned.
