3 goals, 1 assist: Erik ten Hag comments on the upturn in form of £52m Man Utd star

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is confident that his forwards will score more goals following a promising start to the campaign.

Speaking to the press ahead of the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, Ten Hag was asked about Marcus Rashford’s impressive resurgence in form.

He said (via ManUtd.com): “It’s very good, of course, that your strikers, they are starting to score when the season is very young.

“Strikers, they need that belief, and we have now a couple of players who are, in the meanwhile, on the scoring list, and it is very good as a team, because that will strengthen their belief, and they will come up for more, and they will score more goals now.”

Rashford must continue his scoring run

Confidence is key for attackers and even more pivotal for Rashford. The England international turns into a world-class player when he has the belief.

He netted 17 goals and registered five assists in the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Expectations were high from the United star but he disappointed last season. He failed to record even ten goal contributions in the 2023/24 campaign.

After a dull start to this new term, Rashford looks to be on his way back to his rich form.

He opened his account for this season in the 3-0 win over Southampton. He followed that up with a brace and an assist in a thumping victory against Barnsley.

The £52 million-rated star also created two good goal-scoring chances in the league defeat to Liverpool.

Ten Hag hooked him off before the hour mark in the mid-week, indicating that he will keep his starting spot against Crytal Palace on Saturday.

Rashford has a mediocre record against the Eagles, scoring only twice in 15 appearances.

However, he has an opportunity to improve it this weekend.

Palace started the campaign with two losses but have recovered well to take a point against Chelsea and Leicester City in the last two league games.

The Eagles’ head coach, Oliver Glasner, is known for his tactical acumen. Ten Hag must ensure he doesn’t get outsmarted by him, as he did against Arne Slot.
