Bianca Pagdanganan was in the first group to tee off when the Kroger Queen City Championship began Thursday morning.
The 26-year-old Filipina caught fire early, opening the first round with three birdies through four holes.

Prior to turning pro, Pagdanganan played college golf at the University of Arizona and Gonzaga University. She helped lead the Arizona Wildcats to a 2018 Division I Women’s Golf Championship.
In the 2018 Asian Games, she won the bronze in the women’s individual golf event.
Pagdanganan made her Olympic debut in the 2020 Tokyo games, where she finished 43rd.

In 12 events last season, Pagdanganan made the cut nine times. She had three top 10 finishes.
She was runner-up in The Ascendant LPGA benefiting the Volunteers of America and finished third in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, where she fired her lowest round of the year (64).

Pagdanganan is trying to shake off previous struggles at this tournament. At the inaugural Kroger Queen City Championship, she missed the cut at 3-over. In last year’s event at Kenwood Country Club, she missed the cut at even.
