Head scored 59 runs off just 23 balls, including four sixes and eight fours. Along with Matthew Short, who made 41 off 26 balls, they built an opening partnership of 86 runs in just six overs. This gave Australia a strong platform in their innings as they posted 179 batting first.
During the chase, England lost four wickets for 52 runs in the first eight overs. Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran tried to stabilize the innings with a 54-run partnership, but Australia’s bowlers, notably Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood, maintained the pressure.
