What’s up y’all?

I’m Caroline Fenton with Yahoo Sports and joining us now, on behalf of the fedex Air and Ground Awards is San Francisco 49 ers star wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

Thank you for joining us.

Appreciate you.

As always, I do want to get into the fedex Air and Ground Awards, but first, let’s touch on some football because the regular season is coming up so soon.

How is your role as a leader?

Not just amongst the wide receivers, but the whole roster kind of grown over the years.

Um, you know, with time with experience, um you get better.

Um And I think that’s, that’s just one thing that we, that we’ve done really well that um this is year six for me.

Um B A going to year five, I think Jan going to year five as well.

And you know, we got OG Chris Conley in the room and we got two, we got two Youngins.

Um Well, actually three Youngins and um Rie Bell, Ricky Parce and uh Jacob Callan two guys is gonna help us a lot this year.

But, um, overall man, our, our room is outstanding.

You’re entering year 61.

What’s one lesson that maybe you’ve been trying to pass on to some of these young guys that you’ve learned throughout your six years in the league for like Ricky and Jacob.

Um with how complicated and the things that Kyle like to get done in his offense, you have to just when you get in the huddle, you just gotta breathe because it sounds like a lot, but in reality, like two or three words only pertain to you.

And they like, sometimes they get to the point where they kind of like be uptight a little bit.

And so when you get in that mood, like you get to thinking too much, I just like, try to tell them just to be calm and just go out here and do the things that you’ve been doing all your life.

It’s just football.

No di but we understand that there are some new and exciting changes to the fedex air and ground NFL players of the week awards.

That is why you are here today.

What can you tell us about the awards?

Um We got a nice little comp um nice little competition between um the running backs and the quarterbacks.

It’s not only them anymore.

Um We’re excited to incorporate us as in the wide outs and the tight end.

So, um I think that’s fun.

It’s gonna be exciting just to see the competition.

Well, like for, for us in the quarterbacks, do you know that, I hope they don’t be a little selfish without trying to throw us a ball just to win an award.

But just saying that jokingly, but um overall, most importantly, like the winners of the week, um fedex will be donating $2000 to any H BC U of our choice.

And um throughout the year, we’ll be donating.

Well, Fedex will be donating 100,000 to any H BC U of our choice.
