5 Slowest Selling New Cars in 2024 That Could Be The Biggest Bargains in 2025

Date:

If you’re in the market for a new car, you might have your eyes on some of the 2025 models set to launch this fall. But if you’re willing to wait a few months and settle for a new car from model year 2024, you could save a bundle.

That’s because dealers have more inventory of certain models. The expected “market day supply” describes how long a car remains on the lot before it’s purchased. Dealers may be willing to offer incentives or make it easier for you to negotiate a lower price on these cars that aren’t selling as well.

It doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with these choices; dealers may have just overestimated their appeal.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer L

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer L is a full-size luxury SUV with infotainment systems galore, tons of cargo and passenger space, and looks that will turn heads on the highway or the trails. With a starting price of just under $97,000 for the base model, according to Edmunds, the vehicle ranks sixth on Edmund’s list of nine large luxury SUVs and earned a rating of 7.7 out of 10.

Even so, you might be able to snag a deal that makes this Jeep worthwhile. Dealers have only sold 183 Grand Wagoneer Ls in recent months and are sitting on an inventory of 1,328, according to CarEdge.

Hyundai Kona Electric

If you’re ready to make the leap to an all-electric vehicle, you might be considering the Hyundai Kona. This subcompact EV retails for just over $34,000, starting price, and has a range of roughly 200 miles per charge. Keep in mind the car doesn’t qualify for federal EV tax credits, but you may be able to negotiate to keep more money in your pocket, since the Kona hasn’t been flying off the lots lately.

According to CarEdge, dealers have only sold 74 Kona Electric models in the past 45 days and have 646 on the lots.

Audi RS e-tron GT

Sustainable, sleek, and sexy, the 2024 Audi RS e-tron GT is an all-electric luxury sedan. Perhaps the $147,100-plus sticker price is keeping people away, or maybe it’s because Americans continue to shy away from EVs due to range anxiety and higher retail prices than traditional gas vehicles.

A Gallup poll found that 48% of Americans said they would not buy an EV, up from 41% in 2023. You might be able to save on an Audi RS e-tron GT, since dealers have an inventory of 600 vehicles and have only sold 65 in the past 45 days, according to CarEdge.

Alfa Romeo Giulia

Just because you are ready to purchase a luxury car doesn’t mean you have to overspend. With an 8 out of 10 rating from Car and Driver, the Alfa Romeo Giulia delivers performance, style, and crisp handling.

The base model starts at just over $43,000, but you can probably negotiate a better deal as it is one of the slowest-selling cars of the year, with only 80 out of 1,097 sold in the past 45 days.

Dodge Hornet Compact Crossover

With a sporty design and what Motortrend described as a “spicy personality,” the 2024 Dodge Hornet competes with the Toyota RAV4 Prime as a compact crossover starting at just over $30,000.

The Hornet’s sticker price, which is a few thousand more than the starting price for a RAV4, combined with the fact that it’s competing with America’s bestselling SUV, could be why it’s such a tough sell.

Dealers have 13,477 Hornets on their lots and have only sold 1,879 in the past 45 days, according to CarEdge.
