5-year-old Johnson County pizza shop closes. ‘Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!’

Date:

A Johnson County pizza shop has closed after serving customers for more than five years.

Paulie D’s Pizza — 5735 Mission Road in Mission — announced on social media last week that it had closed its Kansas City area restaurant.

Owners “Paulie” and Jennifer Doring said they had moved to the Pomme de Terre Lake area about two hours southeast of Kansas City to begin their “next chapter in life.” They said they plan to open a Paulie D’s location there sometime next year and encouraged customers to follow their Facebook page for updates.

In their announcement, they expressed gratitude for their regular customers.

“You have helped make this little mom and pop pizza place a success! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!” the post reads.

The pizza shop sold build-your-own pizzas, side salads, cheesy bread and more.

The Dorings could not be reached for comment.

In contrast, two new pizza shops are on their way to Johnson County.

Ava Rae’s Pizzeria and Pub is opening at 11168 S. Lone Elm Road in Olathe in early January. Pizza 51 is opening its second location in downtown Olathe, 200 S. Kansas Ave., in the spring.
