Ancelotti future uncertain after Milan loss as Real Madrid ‘hit rock bottom’

Reports in the Spanish press suggest that Carlo Ancelotti’s long-term future with Real Madrid is growing increasingly uncertain after his side’s 3-1 loss at home to Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Goals from Malick Thiaw, Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders were enough for Milan to hold on for an impressive victory against the current Champions League holders.

It was a special night for the Rossoneri, but less so for their former coach, Ancelotti, who has been accused of not knowing his best team or set-up a third of the way into the 2024-25 season.

Spanish outlet Marca claims that Madrid have ‘hit rock bottom’ and that alarm bells are beginning to sound regarding Ancelotti, who has overseen three straight losses in all competitions, with nine goals conceded at home during that period after a 5-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund, a 4-0 loss to Barcelona and the 3-1 defeat by Milan.

Relevo, meanwhile, suggest that Ancelotti’s job could be at risk if he does not begin picking up wins in the near future.

Wednesday’s report suggests that Madrid have never wanted to sack Ancelotti, particularly not mid-way through the season, but they also claim that the situation will become untenable if Los Blancos continue their losing streak for much longer.
