Prosper, Texas Getting Its First Official Pickleball Courts And Cricket Pitch

Date:

The town of Prosper will mark the grand opening of Lakewood Park, a new 22.83-acre recreational facility at 621 S. Coit Road, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

According to the town of Prosper’s official release, the park offers several new amenities, including the town’s first cricket pitch and public pickleball courts, providing a wide range of activities for residents and visitors alike.

Lakewood Park introduces Prosper’s first lighted soccer fields, with three fields available for play, two of which are dual-purpose and will accommodate both soccer and cricket. The park’s 125-space lighted parking area and new restroom facilities, funded by a $500,000 contribution from the Prosper Area Soccer Organization (PASO), will enhance convenience for all visitors.

Additional features include four lighted pickleball courts, a full-sized basketball court and an expanded playground now including equipment for ages 2 to 5 in addition to the existing 5 to 12 age range play area.

The park was developed with funding from the 2020 bond and constructed ahead of schedule by Ratliff Hardscape in collaboration with Hines Real Estate Development. While Lakewood Park’s courts are open to the public, the soccer and cricket fields will remain closed until Spring 2025 to allow time for turf growth.

Prosper Parks and Recreation invites all community members to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, explore Lakewood Park, and celebrate the town’s expanding recreational resources.
