Inter Milan & Ex Germany U21 Defender Confirms He Faced Arsenal Insufficiently Fit: “I Wanted To Play At All Costs”

Inter Milan starlet Yann Bisseck admitted he shook off problems to make the starting line-up against Arsenal tonight.

During his post-match interview with InterTV, as reported by FCInterNews, the 23-year-old spoke highly of Inter’s performance against the Premier League title hopefuls.

Simone Inzaghi decided to hand Bisseck a rare opportunity to start ahead of Alessandro Bastoni.

However, it wasn’t a routine clash in Serie A.

It was a heavyweight Champions League encounter against one of Europe’s most intimidating sides.

But Bisseck stood firm.

Despite enduring a troubled start to the game, the ex-Aarhus center-back grew into the contest.

Moreover, he embraced the arduous task of defending against Bukayo Saka.

Indeed, he often had to deal with the quicksilver English forward in one-on-one situations.

Though he didn’t win every battle on the ground, Bisseck dominated aerial duels.

In addition to his immense defensive contribution, the German youngster completed several overlapping runs.

Overall, it was a satisfying performance from Bastoni’s understudy.

“We invested a lot in this match,” Bisseck said after the game.

“It was a difficult match and we had to fight. We take these three fundamental points.

The Inter center-back confessed he had to shrug off a minor fitness issue to feature against Arsenal.

“I had some issues today, but it’s not an excuse, I wanted to play at all costs.

“We played a very solid game, we are really very satisfied.”

Fired up after another massive European win, Inter will resume their Serie A title defense next weekend.

Inzaghi’s team will trade tackles with table-topping Napoli.

However, Bisseck is adamant his teammates can complete a quick turnaround and come at the Partenopei at full bore.

“Napoli? We need to recover after this game, but we are ready.

“It will be a great match, we’ll have to work hard and I promise I’ll do my best, maybe even in front of goal.”
