IU extends the lead to 20 points with 5:44 to go.

Trey Galloway gets involved, with 6 points and 5 assists.

Makenzie Mgbako’s putback gives him a career-high 26 points and 7 rebounds. He’s 3-of-3 on 3-pointers, the rest of the Hoosiers 1-of-9. Timeout, SIUE.

Myles Rice is up to 11 points. SIUE has 14 offensive rebounds.

Oumar Ballo has IU’s only basket early in the second half. He has 7 points and 4 rebounds.

Mackenzie Mgbako is making things look easy while most of the rest of the Hoosiers are having issues. IU uses a late 11-0 run to create some breathing room.

Mgbako has 19 points (8-of-10 from the field, 2-of-2 3-pointers) and 5 rebounds. The rest of the Hoosiers are a combined 6-of-18, 0-of-5 3-pointers and 9 turnovers.

Malik Reneau has 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.

SIUE has 10 offensive rebounds but 9 turnovers. Rae’Sean Taylor has 10 points, including a couple of spectacular 3-pointers.

Mackenzie Mgbako scores 5 quick points and can add to it with a free throw coming out of the timeout. He has 18.

Rae’Sean Taylor’s 3-pointer ties it off of IU’s 7th turnover. Taylor has 7 points.

Indiana is sloppy in this stretch with 3 turnovers and SIUE overtaking them in rebounding (14-13).

Trey Galloway, who missed a lot of offseason work due to injury, gets in. SUIE has nearly caught up to the Hoosiers in rebounding (11-9).

Mackenzie Mgbako has 9 quick points, including IU’s last 7.

IU already has a 10-3 rebounding edge but is shooting just 30% from the field. SIUE needs 3+ minutes to get its first basket.

Kanaan Carlyle, who took a shot to the ribs in an exhibition against Tennessee, is available. Anthony Leal is out.

Zach Osterman, IndyStar: Indiana 94-59

Indiana’s pace will be a factor in all these nonconference home games, but in their buy games, the Hoosiers’ sheer size will be most important. Good luck containing Oumar Ballo and Malik Reneau, much less flexing when IU goes small. The Hoosiers struggled in these games last year. The first way they show they’ve separated from last year’s failures is in winning these games with ease.
