Amine Adli on the verge of signing Bayer Leverkusen contract extension

kicker reports that the Bayer Leverkusen forward Amine Adli is on the verge of signing a contract extension at the club, despite his recent injury.

Adli fractured his fibula after a challenge in Leverkusen’s Champions League tie against Brest and is set to be out until at least February as he recovers from the injury.

Talks had stalled earlier in the season but have accelerated after Adli’s injury. The 24-year-old’s camp was impressed with how Leverkusen handled the situation despite the Moroccan’s absence as they did not try and lower certain details of the deal.

Adli is expected to receive a significant pay rise and a long-term contract. The forward’s current deal at the BayArena expires in 2026.

Before his injury, Adli struggled to carry on his form from last season. In the 12 games that he featured in, Adli did not score and did not provide an assist. The Moroccan also saw a reduction in his playing time following the arrival of Martin Terrier as well as head coach Xabi Alonso’s preference to some times play Jeremie Frimpong behind Victor Boniface.
