According to L’Équipe, Manchester City and Manchester United are both interested in signing Viktor Gyökeres (26) in the summer transfer window.
The former Coventry City striker has scored 23 goals and registered 5 assists in 17 appearances across all competitions so far this season. Following a hat-trick against Pep Guardiola’s City in the Champions League, his stocks have only risen with reports of a potential move in the January transfer window intensifying.
The two Manchester clubs are not alone in their quest to sign the Swedish international, with FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich also showing an interest in the 26-year-old. Reports linking Gyökeres with a move to Old Trafford have only intensified following the appointment of Sporting CP head coach Rúben Amorim as Erik Ten Hag’s replacement at Old Trafford.
A move to PSG is unlikely in January
Les Parisiens hold a long-standing interest in the centre forward. The Ligue 1 champions had identified the Swede as their priority target in attack during the summer transfer window before Luis Enrique informed club officials he was happy with his attacking options. Le Parisien reports the thought of paying upwards of €75m for Gyökeres puts PSG off a potential move. With reservations over the player’s asking price, a move to the French capital looks unlikely in the winter.
