Real Madrid star no longer a prioirty for Liverpool – report

A recent report from The Athletic has suggested that Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is no longer on Liverpool’s list of transfer priorities.

The outlet suggests that while Tchouameni had been a top target for the Reds before the 2022 summer transfer window, Liverpool ultimately had to back down after it became evident that the French midfielder was set on joining Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, in their search for a top-quality holding midfielder, Liverpool shifted their focus toward Martin Zubimendi during the most recent transfer window. However, he decided to stay at Sociedad, closing the door on a potential move to Anfield.

As a result, Ryan Gravenberch has stepped up and secured his spot in Liverpool’s midfield, impressing under Arne Slot and showing enough promise that Liverpool is no longer urgently pursuing a new No. 6 for the squad.

Troubling times for Tchouameni

Recently, the 24-year-old  has found himself in the spotlight due to a rough outing against AC Milan. Playing in his favoured position, he struggled to contain Milan’s attacks and was directly involved in two of the three goals scored by the Italian side.

Frustrated fans at the Santiago Bernabeu did not hold back, making their displeasure known as Tchouameni was substituted at halftime.

This rocky performance has led to renewed speculation about his future at Real Madrid, with Liverpool initially linked as a potential destination.

While earlier reports indicated that Liverpool might be ready to make an offer of around €60 million for Tchouameni, newer information suggests this claim is now being dismissed.

Presently, Tchouameni is sidelined with an ankle injury, which will keep him out of action for key upcoming matches. He is expected to miss games against Osasuna, Leganes, Liverpool, Getafe, and Athletic Bilbao.

As it stands, Tchouameni’s immediate focus will be on recovering from his injury and working to re-establish his form at Real Madrid, while Liverpool appear to have moved on from their pursuit.
