Micah Parsons to return for Cowboys vs. Eagles on Sunday

Date:

The Dallas Cowboys are gaining Micah Parsons as they lose Dak Prescott.

Hours after it was reported the Cowboys’ starting quarterback would undergo season-ending hamstring surgery, ESPN’s Todd Archer reported Micah Parsons will return to the lineup this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles after missing four games with a high ankle sprain.

Parsons was declared questionable for the game on Friday.

A healthy Parsons would be a major boon for a Cowboys defense thanks 31st in the NFL in points allowed per drive, 23rd in yards allowed per drive and 24th in sacks, though Parsons was quiet (by his standards) in his four games played this season with 14 tackles and only one sack.

Parsons is coming off his third straight All-Pro nod.

The Cowboys can only hope there’s something for Parsons to save. Dallas sits at 3-5 and is now facing the rest of the season without Prescott, who is headed to injured reserve and will soon undergo surgery for a hamstring avulsion. Veteran backup Cooper Rush will take over instead.

Even with Parsons back, the Cowboys still have no shortage of injuries on defense. Pro Bowl cornerback DaRon Bland is still out with a foot injury, while his counterpart Trevon Diggs is questionable for Sunday after missing practice Friday with a calf injury. Starting defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence remains on injured reserve.
