CHARLOTTE — The road games continue for South Carolina women’s basketball, as it travels 93 miles to face NC State at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte as part of the 2024 Ally Tipoff.

The Gamecocks (1-0) opened their season in Las Vegas on Monday, defeating Michigan 68-62 in T-Mobile Arena. The Wolfpack (1-0) defeated East Tennessee State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, a day later, 80-55.

It’s a Final Four reunion for these two teams, which played each other on April 5. South Carolina won 78-59 and won the 2024 national championship two days later.

Junior forward Ashlyn Watkins who was suspended following her arrest on Aug. 31 returned to team activities on Wednesday. She was charged with first-degree assault and battery and kidnapping and both charges were listed as “Dismissed Not Indicted” on Nov. 1. 

Coach Dawn Staley said Watkins will play Sunday but will not start.
