Omaha, Neb. — Creighton Women’s Basketball opens its 2024-25 home schedule with its second consecutive opponent that reached the NCAA Tournament, facing the Drake Bulldogs on Monday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m.

Creighton’s overall series with Drake began in 1977. Drake holds the advantage 43-29, but the Bluejays downed the Bulldogs 89-78 last season in Des Moines.

Senior Anna Miller has been impressive in the first two contests with 46 points and 22 rebounds. Four other Bulldogs are averaging double digits in Courtney Becker (12.5 ppg), Katie Dinnebier (12.0 ppg), Abbie Aalsma (12.0 ppg) and Ava Hawthorne (10.0 ppg).

Two areas that have propelled Drake to a pair of victories is rebounding and getting to the free throw line. The Bulldogs are averaging 40.5 board per game and have reached the charity stripe 59 times in the first two contests.

The Bluejays opened its season with a challenge, facing South Dakota State in a road game as the Jackrabbits opened their renovated arena. As expected in the first game of the season there were some bumps in the road, but the turning point against the Jackrabbits was on the glass. Specifically a pair of offensive rebounds on missed free throws by SDSU that resulted in four and five-point plays in the first half.

Lauren Jensen led Creighton with 23 points, while Kiani Lockett was sharp in her first start. Lockett finished with 12 points on 5-of-7 from the field. She also dished out three assists and did not turn the ball over.

The Bluejays are 22-29 in season openers after falling at South Dakota State. Creighton is 13-37 in road opening contests. Under head coach Jim Flanery Creighton is 10-13 in the first game of the season. Creighton is 35-16 in home openers, including 16-6 under head coach Jim Flanery. The Bluejays have won their last four home openers.
