Anaya Bangar, the transgender daughter of former cricketer Sanjay Bangar, recently took to social media to share her experience of transitioning from ‘Aryan’ to ‘Anaya’ using Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).
In the social media post, Anaya expressed her love and passion for cricket. She said that cricket has had a huge place in her life owing to her father’s career in the sport.

However, the HRT has left Anaya physically weaker by the day, making it challenging for her to continue her cricket journey.
She expressed the dilemma between her love for cricket and her self-identity as she wrote, “Losing strength but gaining happiness… each step feels more like me.”

Her statement has generated a wave of reactions on social media, with people commenting to voice their opinions. Praising her courage, one user said, “She deserves happiness above everything.”
Another user, however, expressed his concerns about the ‘competitive fairness’ of the sport if trans women are allowed to participate with biological women.

This debate comes at a point when the world has just started to accommodate trans people into mainstream society.
