Jong Oranje: Taylor, Owusu-Oduro and Hartjes not fit and replaced by two debutants

Kenneth Taylor (Ajax), Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro (AZ) and Lennard Hartjes (Excelsior) are not fit enough to run out with the Dutch Juniors for their friendlies against Slovakia and England this week.

The trio will be replaced by a debutant pairing of Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp of Almere City and PSV goalkeeper Niek Schiks.

Taylor is ill while Owusu-Oduro and Hartjes are struggling with their own injuries. Hartjes was only added to Michael Reiziger’s selection on Monday, alongside Denso Kasius (AZ) and Club Brugge goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel as Ian Maatsen (Aston Villa) and Calvin Raatsie (Excelsior) were removed from the squad due to injuries. Maatsen played nineteen matches for the Dutch U21 squad and scored one goal. Raatsie played seven matches.

Another absentee for Jong Oranje, is PSV’s Couhaib Driouech. While previously being called up, the striker is no longer eligible to play after declaring himself for, and playing in, binding matches for the Moroccan Under-23 team.

He can return to the youth set-up of his birth, yet the KNVB require a formal transfer procedure to allow him to play for a Dutch representative team.
