Raphinha’s plaudits this season for Barcelona have been well-documented. But it appears the forward is showing his talents for the national team as well.
In a recent FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Venezuela, the Barcelona forward scored a brilliant free kick to keep his team’s qualification hopes alive.
The goal came in the 43rd minute, with Raphinha producing a curled effort that left the Venezuelan goalkeeper completely bamboozled.
Raphinha’s goal, however, was not enough to seal three points for Brazil as Venezuela equalled the tally a minute into the second half. The two sides went on to draw 1:1.
Nevertheless, the goal from Raphinha was another indicator that the Barça forward is indeed becoming one of the most important players, not only for his club but also for his nation.
His performance is going to be critical as Brazil look to secure three points in a must-win game against Uruguay next week.
With three goals in the last two matches, it will be interesting to see whether or not Raphinha’s creative brilliance and productivity in front of goal will be enough to tear down an otherwise solid Uruguayan defence.
