Brown, Koerkenmeier and Wallace Sign with Women’s Basketball – Saint Louis University

Date:

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University head women’s basketball coach Rebecca Tillett has announced the signing of Zhykera Brown, Alyssa Koerkenmeier and Jasaiyah Wallace to the Billikens’ 2025-26 recruiting class.

Brown, a 5-foot-10 guard from Greenville, S.C., Koerkenmeier, a 6-foot-6 center from St. Rose, Ill., and Wallace, a 6-foot-1 Forward from Centralia, Ill., are the staff’s first additions to the 2025-26 roster.

Brown will join the Billikens from Legacy Early College High School. During the 2023-24 season, she averaged 17.9 points on her way to being named the All-State MVP. She plays club ball with the Upward Stars.

“I chose Saint Louis University because they were consistent and really showed they wanted me at their school,” said Brown. “They made me feel like family and not only that, I get to go and play. I’m ready.”

Coach Tillett on Brown: “Zhykera’s recruiting story will remain one of our favorites. We got a tip from an unlikely source and we remain grateful that we walked to Zhykera’s court. She is an outstanding guard who has a point guard’s mind, a scorer’s prowess, and the ability to defend multiple positions. She loves to share the ball and is a high-level passer. Every time we call her, she is in the gym working to improve her game. She has an entrepreneurial spirit and a giving heart which is a powerful combination. We cannot wait to coach her.”

Koerkenmeier will come to SLU from St. Rose, Ill., where she attends Mater Dei Catholic High School. During her junior campaign, she was named AP First Team All-State and 2A State Tournament MVP. In 2023, she helped lead Mater Dei to a 2A State Championship, where she recorded a triple-double, which included a single-game record 10 blocked shots. Koerkenmeier plays club ball with the Southern Illinois Hawks.

“I chose Saint Louis University because I know it will provide both great academics and athletics,” said Koerkenmeier. “I can’t wait to continue my basketball career at SLU and help the program continue its success. The coaches and team culture were a pivotal part of my decision, and I cannot wait to spend the next four years with the team.”

Coach Tillett on Koerkenmeier: “Alyssa brings championship experience. She has already won three state titles combined in basketball and volleyball and has her sights set on a fourth. Most people dream of winning one state championship. Her size, rebounding ability, and timing on blocking shots will all improve our defense. She also brings offensive versatility, which we actively recruit in our post players.”

Jasaiyah Wallace will come to Saint Louis from Centralia, Ill., where she plays at Centralia HS. She is a three-time All-Conference selection and was named All-State Honorable Mention last season. Wallace plays club ball for Lady Brad Beal Elite.

“I chose a SLU because of the family centered and highly competitive environment,” said Wallace. “I am excited to learn from the faculty and staff that make up the outstanding university. They have an accredited nursing program, which I intend on pursuing.”

Coach Tillett on Wallace: “Jasaiyah is an elite rebounder. Rebounders are a constant on all of our championship teams. She gets the ball at the highest point and has quick timing from jump to jump which makes her a threat on every shot on both ends of the floor. She is someone who cares deeply about the well-being of other people. Teammates like Jasaiyah propel teams to excellence.”

Saint Louis is coming off back-to-back championship-winning seasons. The Billikens won the 2024 WNIT Championship, becoming the first A-10 women’s basketball program to win a postseason national tournament. In 2023, SLU won its first A-10 Championship resulting in the program’s first appearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship.
