The Match 2024 brought some of the best golfers in the world to West Palm Beach in February. The made-for-TV charity golf event is back in South Florida with a twist: a two-day celebrity tournament called The Match: Superstars.
While Rory McIlroy and Lexi Thompson took part in the year’s first edition, The Match begins Thursday without any pro golfers. Instead, a field of eight celebrities from sports and entertainment will take part (no, this doesn’t include Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie Woods). NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley will compete, and he’ll start as part of a team with baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. They’ll face off against legendary actor Bill Murray and hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, a Palm Beach County resident.
Rounding out the field are Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, former NBA player Blake Griffin, actor Mark Wahlberg and comedian Nate Bargatze. The winner goes home from Breakers West Country Club on Friday night with $1 million.
