Many former players feel that Rishabh Pant is a better cricketer than MS Dhoni in Test cricket. There is also a viewpoint that Pant has successfully replaced the legendary cricketer.
Rahul Dravid has also reacted to this argument. He called Rishabh Pant, a special cricketer, and added that Pant had been sensational in a five-day format.
In 38 Tests, he has scored 2,693 runs at an average of 44.14, with six hundreds and 14 fifties.
“Rishabh Pant is a special cricketer and he has taken Test cricket like a duck to water. When MS Dhoni left, we felt that it would take time before somebody comes and replaces him. I am not saying that Pant has replaced Dhoni but his performances in Test cricket have been sensational,” Rahul Dravid said on ESPNcricinfo.
Dravid also spoke about Pant’s unbeaten 89 runs at The Gabba in the 2020-21 Test series against Australia.
“Pant was unstoppanle that day. He scored 89 runs when most of the main players were injured ad India were chasing a tough target. To give that kind of a performance under pressure is incrediable,” he added.
