Apartment Building Fire Injures 3 and Displaces Dozens

Date:

A late-night fire on November 19 tore through a two-story apartment building in North Highlands, California, injuring three people and displacing more than 40 residents, Metro Fire of Sacramento said.

The fire, reported around 11:20 pm, spread quickly from the ground floor, forcing some residents to jump from balconies as their exits were blocked.

“This building caught fire like the back of a box of matches. It was like somebody poured gasoline in there. In a matter of minutes, it was gone,” resident Nathaniel Figueroa told KCRA. “Honestly, I’ve lost everything.”

Downed power lines added to the chaos as over 85 firefighters responded and evacuated two 16-unit buildings.
