Liverpool register interest in Inter Milan striker

Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Inter Milan forward Marcus Thuram, according to Italian outfit Calciomercato.

Thuram reportedly has a release clause of €85 million and would command a sizeable transfer fee to sanction any move to Anfield, so it remains to be seen if Liverpool will make any formal offer.

The 27-year-old’s ability to play in multiple attacking positions, including as a centre-forward, second striker and winger, makes him an attractive option for Arne Slot’s side.

Currently sitting top of the Premier League and the Champions League, Liverpool have made a flying start to life under their new manager but remain keen on bolstering their attacking options, especially given the uncertain future of talisman Mohammed Salah.

The Reds have also been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt forward and Salah’s compatriot Omar Marmoush, who has been in sizzling form this season.

Liverpool up against it in Thuram pursuit after striker’s latest admission

Thuram was recently in action for France against Italy at the San Siro in Sunday’s Nations League meeting between the teams.

Speaking after his side’s 3-1 victory, the striker was quoted saying: “I love this stadium; I love San Siro,” per Gazzetta.

Thuram, the son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram, has been a key player for Inter since joining from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2023 as a free agent having scored 23 goals in 61 matches for the Nerrazurri.

Forming a deadly strike partnership with skipper Lautaro Martinez, Thuram has won a Scudetto and a Supercoppa Italia with his current employers, whose quest for consecutive league crowns has not kicked off as expected.

Albeit only one point adrift of leaders Napoli, Inter sit fourth in the Serie A table as things stand ahead of their trip to Marc Antonio Bentegodi to face off against Hellas Verona on Saturday.
