Official: Pep Guardiola signs a two-year contract extension to stay at Manchester City

Manchester City have confirmed that Pep Guardiola has signed a contract extension with the club. Guardiola’s contract extension was confirmed today on mancity.com. That is great news for Manchester City as Guardiola’s contract extension will see him remain at the club until 2027.

Since arriving at Manchester City Pep Guardiola has helped the club become the dominant force in English football. Across his spell at the club, City has won 18 trophies. Each trophy won under Guardiola has its own story to tell. The six Premier League title wins in the past seven seasons are a testament to Guardiola’s team’s consistency and all-around brilliance. Winning the treble in the 22/23 season is arguably the biggest achievement during Guardiola’s trophy-laden spell at the club. Becoming the first side to win four consecutive top-flight titles in English football history isn’t far behind. Those two achievements alone are a testament to Guardiola’s managerial brilliance.

Speaking with mancity.com Pep Guardiola explained that he couldn’t leave Manchester City just yet. He explained: “I felt I could not leave now, simple as that. Don’t ask me the reason why. Maybe the four defeats were the reason why and I felt I cannot leave. I felt the club still want me or had the fact that we were together and that’s the reason why we sign.

There is little doubt that Pep Guardiola is the heartbeat of this Manchester City machine. He makes his team tick and he is now set to stay at the club for another two seasons. That is massive news for Manchester City as they look to build a new era of success with Pep Guardiola at the helm.
