Prediction and betting odds for Duke basketball vs Arizona on Friday

Date:

Head coach Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils face four ranked opponents before December 5, and they’ll square off with the second of those challenging non-conference foes on Friday night.

The Arizona Wildcats lost their most recent game, a 103-88 shootout against the Wisconsin Badgers in which they allowed John Tonje to score 41 points. With former North Carolina Tar Heels star Caleb Love at the helm, however, Arizona took the Blue Devils down at Cameron Indoor Stadium last November, so the Wildcats clearly deserve Scheyer’s full attention.

Duke will attempt to erase a recent loss of its own after the Kentucky Wildcats stormed back for a 77-72 upset in Atlanta last Tuesday. Superstar freshman Cooper Flagg scored 26 points, including 12 of the Blue Devils’ last 14, but two late turnovers doomed the victory effort. Will his next game on the national stage prove more successful?

Here are our final thoughts on the betting odds for Friday’s top-25 showdown.

Duke vs Arizona prediction, pick

The Arizona Wildcats got the better of Duke last November, but four of those five starters left for different schools or the NBA. The early loss will make this argument a little hypothetical for a while, but I believe the Blue Devils got better and Arizona got worse. Check out our staff predictions for more in-depth analysis, but I expect the Blue Devils to cover comfortably.

Prediction: Duke 79, Arizona 61
