English media: Feyenoord meeting important moment for Manchester City

Manchester City are winless in their last five matches, and this bleak run includes a heavy Champions League defeat at Sporting Portugal (4-1), as well as Premier League humiliation at home to Tottenham Hotspur (4-0).

Considering City dropped points against Inter and face difficult opponents in Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain after this clash with Feyenoord, the match against the Rotterdammers arises as a very important potential turning point, according to Manchester Evening News.

According to the local newspaper, Pep Guardiola’s side are currently flirting with an unfavourable starting position in the Champions League. The club is tenth, while a place in the top eight is needed to go directly to the next round.

“A place in the play-offs only causes complications for a team that really does not need more games. A victory over Feyenoord would be a boost towards the match against Liverpool, but would also be good for physical reasons.”

Adding to this, in his column for the Daily Mail, former footballer Danny Murphy expressed his valid concerns. Could Feyenoord cause a currently vulnerable City issues?

“You don’t have to be a genius to see that missing Rodri would be huge, but they have deteriorated more defensively than anyone could have predicted. They are too reliant on Erling Haaland scoring goals, but the biggest concern for Man City is that it is very easy to play well against them at the moment.”
