Forecast: Snow likely this weekend in the St. Louis area

Date:

ST. LOUIS — Rain moves into the region this afternoon into this evening before ending before midnight. Rain may briefly mix with some wet snow along I-70 in southern Illinois, but no accumulation is expected. The roads will be wet for the afternoon and evening drives. Temperatures will be in the 40s today and drop into the 20s to low-30s overnight tonight after the rain exits.

Even colder air will follow the Wednesday rain for Thanksgiving and Friday, with daytime temperatures in the 30s to lower 40s and overnight lows in the teens and 20s.

Snow is likely Saturday with a clipper system that will drop across the region. This snow looks to be light in most areas, but there is a chance for an hour or two where snowfall rates may increase in a very narrow band near the Missouri River. Accumulations are expected to range from as little as a dusting to upwards of 2 inches. This will create some minor to moderate travel impacts for a couple hours as temperatures are forecast to be cold enough for the snow to stick.

The current timing would be sometime from noon to 6 p.m. That timing could change. Temperatures this weekend will be quite cold, in the 20s to lower 30s.
