Martin Necas is doing things no other Carolina Hurricane has ever done before.
Through his teams first 21 games, Necas is not only leading Carolina in goals (12) and points (35), but he’s also now pacing the entire league.
Yes. That is correct.
After a two-point performance against Dallas, Martin Necas, the Carolina Hurricanes’ 2017 first-round pick, the player who was almost traded this offseason, is now tied with Nathan MacKinnon for the league lead in points.
In fact, no other player in franchise history has had as many points as Necas through the first 21 games of a season.
The Czech forward has blossomed into what appears to be a true superstar for the Hurricanes.
His dynamic mix of speed, skating, shooting and vision has all come together and the winger is proving he is in fact a top-end talent.
And this is playing primarily with linemates Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Eric Robinson, so not exactly offensive dynamos.

This season, Necas has already had a 13-game point streak, two four-point games, four game-winning goals and 11 total multi-point games.
He’s taken his game to another level and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. In fact, he’s only had three games all year in which he’s failed to register a point.
The true mark of a superstar though is consistency and Necas still has a long way to go with three-quarters of the season remaining.
However, there’s no denying that he looks like a completely new player playing with confidence and swagger.
And, to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if he can make it to 100 points, something no Hurricane has done since Eric Staal in 2006.
