Dolphins vs. Packers score, live updates: Green Bay hosts Miami at the ‘Frozen Tundra’ in Thanksgiving nightcap

Date:

It’s time for dessert (and not just the pumpkin pie and cheesecake) as the Miami Dolphins are in Green Bay to take on the Packers in this year’s NFL Thanksgiving Night game. For as cold as it’ll feel in Green Bay on Thursday, the 8-3 Packers head into the holiday as one of the league’s hottest teams, having won six of their past seven games. The only loss in that span was to the Lions, who at 11-1 have staked their claim as the league’s best team. Not bad for the Packers, who’ve dealt with injuries to starting quarterback Jordan Love in his second year at the helm after Aaron Rodgers moved to New York.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, have also been on a run — one that has coincided with the return of QB Tua Tagovailoa. Miami is 4-3 in games he’s started this season and has won three straight, with the offense looking like it did last season as he’s settled in. Tagovailoa has thrown for 605 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions over the Dolphins’ past two games, and he’ll need to be sharp again if the 5-6 Dolphins want to stay connected in the the AFC wild-card picture.

As for the weather, temperatures will be in the upper 20s at kickoff and throughout the night. With winds around 15 miles per hour and gusts nearing 25 mph, the feels-like temps will be in the mid-teens. The last time this Dolphins group played in frosty conditions they posted a dud in a 26-7 playoff loss in Kansas City this past January in sub-zero temperatures.

Live24 updates

  • FIELD GOAL: Packers add even more points

The Packers stop the Dolphins on 4th-and-5 at midfield and add to their lead with a 46-yard field goal. The Dolphins will have to erase a three-touchdown lead in freezing weather in the second half.

  • TOUCHDOWN: Packers eating big in first half

Another touchdown for Jayden Reed and the Packers stand to enter the first half with a 21-3 lead. Jordan Love is 9-for-13 with 85 yards and two touchdowns, while the running game has 95 yards on 15 carries.

  • A sack on 3rd-and-8 ends the Dolphins drive and the Packers take over at their own 38 after a fair catch. 3:03 left in the first half.

  • The Dolphins get a stop and hold onto the ball this timeut a holding penalty pushes them back to their own 6-yard line.

  • FIELD GOAL: Dolphins get on the board

The Dolphins’ red zone appearance goes nowhere (six yards back, actually) and they settle for the field goal. It’s a start.

  • The Dolphins make a 48-yard field goal to get on the board, but the Packers get called for a neutral-zone violation. Mike McDaniel opts to go for it on 4th-and-4 and the gamble pays off with a 16-yard pass to Jaylen Waddle.

Miami is now in the red zone.

  • First quarter ends with the Dolphins at their own 43 and trying to dig their way out of a 14-0 hole. Tua Tagovailoa is 4-for-4 for 31 passing yards in the cold, but the run game has combined for negative-1 yards.

  • TOUCHDOWN: Packers go up 14-0 on Josh Jacobs 1-yard run

The Packers get into the red zone then finish a 12-play drive with Josh Jacobs pounding it up the middle. It is all Green Bay in the cold so far.

  • Dolphins’ response drive ends after an unnecessary roughness penalty creates a 3rd-and-29. The Packers take over at their own 24.

  • TOUCHDOWN: Jordan Love to Jayden Reed

After a couple Josh Jacobs runs up the middle, Jordan Love hits Jayden Reed in the flat on play action to open the scoring. The Dolphins officially pay for their mistake.

  • MUFFED PUNT: Packers take over at the Dolphins’ 9

It’s a cold night, judging from Malik Washington’s hands. The Dolphins returner bobbles the punt and the Packers take over in the re

  • Dolphins get to Jordan Love on 3rd-and-14, and the ball squirts out to the side. It was initially called a fumble, then turned into an incomplete pass when replay showed Love was hit just as he started his throwing motion. The result is a Packers punt.

  • Packers returner Keisean Nixon returns the ball all the way to the 46-yard line and we’re off at Lambeau Field.
