Women’s Basketball Returns to Action at Spragins Hall Saturday Afternoon – UAH Athletics

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH women’s basketball team steps out of Gulf South Conference play on Saturday with a 2 p.m. matchup against Tennessee Southern at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

The Chargers come into the post-Thanksgiving matchup with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in GSC play, after opening the conference slate with an 81-38 victory at Trevecca Nazarene. Ivey Maddox led the UAH offense at TNU with a season-best 20 points.
 
Lili Wilken continues to lead the Blue & White in her first season in the Rocket City with a team-high 11.5 points per game and a roster-leading 15 total assists. She has also pulled down 23 total rebounds to rank second on the roster, while only accruing five turnovers across four games.
 
Wilken is joined in averaging double-digit points this season by freshman Mia Hollingsworth (11.0 PPG) and junior Millie Brown (10.3 PPG).
 
The Chargers are averaging a GSC-best 45.8 rebounds per game as a team, guided by Haley Nichols with 6.8 rebounds per game for 27 total boards this year. Four UAH players have 20 or more rebounds this season, with Wilken (23), Alexis Woods (22) and Bella White (22) joining Nichols.
 
Saturday will be the 11th all-time meeting between UAH and Tennessee Southern, as the Chargers own a 7-3 all-time record in those previous 10 matchups.
 
Tennessee Southern – formerly Martin Methodist – owns a 3-2 overall record and a 2-1 mark in conference play, as the Firehawks most recently fell in an exhibition at Montevallo on Tuesday. UTS averages 75.8 points per game as a team, led by Ashley Dickey at 18.6 points per contest.
 
After Saturday’s matchup, UAH looks ahead to hosting its first GSC game of the campaign next Saturday at 2 p.m. against Valdosta State.
