Women’s Basketball Trounces Jacksonville State – University of Missouri Athletics

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball earned a 79-45 victory over Jacksonville State Sunday afternoon in Mizzou Arena.

Senior forward Laniah Randle recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter notched 15 points and four rebounds for the Tigers.

Junior guard Ashton Judd added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The Tigers got to work early following the opening tip as Missouri initiated a 15-4 run that spanned nearly five minutes of game time and was commenced by a 3-pointer from the top of the arch by Judd.

Sophomore forward Hannah Linthicum added a layup to give the Tigers a 23-10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The teams traded baskets early in the second, but a layup by Randle with just over four minutes remaining sparked an 11-1 Missouri run that was capped off with a layup from graduate guard De’Myla Brown. The run pushed Missouri’s advantage to 21 at the four-minute mark.

The Tigers totaled eight steals and led by 41-22 at the end of the opening half.

Holding a 19-point lead nearing the halfway point of the third quarter, Judd tallied a layup that sparked a 25-2 Missouri run that spanned the quarter break. Sophomore guard Abbey Schreacke scored six points in the change including a 3-pointer with two minutes elapsed in the final period to bookend the scoring streak.

Schreacke powered the Tigers throughout the second half scoring 10 of her 12-point total in the final two frames. The Tigers and Gamecocks exchanged baskets down the stretch until the final buzzer.

Brown and sophomore forward Hilke Feldrappe both recorded baskets in the final frame.

Missouri finished with 50 points in the paint while Jacksonville State recorded 18. Defensively the Tigers notched nine steals and eight blocks.

UP NEXT

Missouri will be back in action at 8 p.m. on Thursday to face SMU as part of the SEC-ACC Challenge. The contest will air nationally on SEC Network.
