Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove is awake and talking after spending the night in intensive care, following a scary on-pitch collapse during the Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter on Sunday afternoon.
Bove: ‘Thank you everyone’
According to local outlet the Firenze edition of La Repubblica, the 22-year-old is awake and no longer intubated.
‘Thank you everyone,” were his first words after waking up, according to Monday morning’s update.
The match between Fiorentina and Inter was suspended in the 17th minute after Bove collapsed off the ball and was quickly rushed to an ambulance on the side of the pitch.
Sky Sport Italia reported that the former Roma academy graduate was breathing autonomously when he was taken to the ambulance and that he regained consciousness at the Careggi hospital near the Stadio Artemio Franchi later in the evening.
The Lega Serie A confirmed that the match was abandoned and that it would not continue on Sunday night. When it is rescheduled, the game will continue from the 17th minute.
