Liverpool have made a contract offer to defender Virgil Van Dijk, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The Dutch star is one of a number of Liverpool players who is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning in theory that they could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club from February 1st to join for free in the summer.
His current side clearly don’t want that to happen as the report suggests that Liverpool have made an opening offer to the defender, with no breakthrough yet in terms of salary of length of the deal.
Talks are said to be ongoing, with a new deal also expected to be offered soon to Mohamed Salah.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is another player with an expiring deal, and the report suggests that an offer has been made, with rumours of a potential move to Real Madrid still swirling.
