Monumental Sports Network to Stream Seven Premier D.C.-Area High School Basketball Tournaments During 2024-25 Season – Monumental Sports

Network announces content partnership with The Washington Post, significantly expands DMV region high school basketball coverage for upcoming season 

Washington, D.C. (December 5, 2024) – As part of Monumental Sports Network’s (MNMT) goal to elevate local sports at all levels, the network announced today plans to stream seven prestigious D.C.-area high school basketball tournaments during the 2024-25 season. 

The seven tournaments feature both boys and girls games and will take place at various locations throughout Maryland and Virginia, beginning with several games from the Capital Invitational on Thursday, December 12 at Sidwell Friends School’s campus in Bethesda, MD. Other tournaments on MNMT include the Champions Classic at South Lake High School (Dec 21; Reston, VA), Christy Winters Scott Invitational at The Saint James (Dec 31; Springfield, VA), Basketball Day in the DMV at DeMatha High School (Jan 12; Bethesda, MD), St. James MLK Classic at The Saint James (Jan 20; Springfield, VA), and the Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament (Mar 5 and 7; location TBD). In total, MNMT will air nearly 30 high school basketball games this season.

The high school games will feature several nationally ranked boys and girls basketball teams from throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (the DMV), as well as prominent teams from Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and more. 

Playing on Monumental Sports Network represents a special opportunity for high school athletes to showcase their abilities on a major regional sports platform. Notably, the games will be available to stream throughout the country. Basketball fans from coast to coast can watch the games on their preferred streaming device via monumentalplus.com or by downloading the Monumental+ app on iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV and using an eligible log-in. Fans interested in viewing MNMT’s high school basketball coverage can purchase annual memberships priced at $199.99 per year atmonumentalplus.com (savings of $39.89 per year compared to twelve months of a monthly subscription). Monumental is producing and airing the games at no cost to the schools and each game will include a professional broadcast team, including on-air play-by-play and color commentary. Play-by-play announcers include MNMT talent Bijan Todd, Tyler Byrum, and Shaun Salehi. Color commentators include MNMT personalities and DMV basketball insiders Christy Winters Scott, Jimmy Patsos, and more.  

As part of MNMT’s high school basketball coverage, the network has partnered with The Washington Post to feature its renowned All-Met high school sports content and branding as part of the live game broadcasts and other MNMT programming. This dynamic collaboration will celebrate the legacy of past All-Met basketball players and amplify the legacy of the DMV’s rich high school sports landscape. Fans can expect to see co-branded content across a variety of platforms and programming, including the live high school basketball streams on MNMT, pre- and postgame segments for Wizards broadcasts, articles and video content on the Monumental+ app, and MNMT social media platforms. 

 

Last month, MNMT announced a robust 2024-25 college basketball schedule, featuring 67 DMV region games through partnerships with HBCU GO, George Washington University, University of Richmond, Hampton University, George Mason University, and Towson University. That total represents the most college basketball games to air on the network during a single season and includes 31 women’s games and 38 games featuring HBCUs. 

In addition to the network’s college and high school basketball coverage, Monumental Sports Network is the exclusive local television media rights holder for the NBA’s Washington Wizards, NHL’s Washington Capitals, WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and NBA G League’s Capital City Go-Go. It also proudly boasts a comprehensive schedule of original programming and live college football, college volleyball, and esports, as well as Washington Spirit (NWSL), Old Glory DC (Major League Rugby), Washington Freedom (Major League Cricket), and Annapolis Blues (NPSL) games. In total, MNMT will air close to 500 games during the 2024-25 season, an all-time high. 

The current broadcast schedule for the first four high school basketball tournaments on MNMT can be found below, with a possibility of more games to be added. Games featured on MNMT for the final three tournaments will be announced at a later date.
