Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz cannot translate his form with Spain’s national team to the Parisians. Ruiz was a standout for La Roja at UEFA Euro 2024 and his stock was at an all-time high, but the Ligue 1 side decided not to cash in.
Over the fall months, the midfielder has been linked to FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. With Ruiz failing to translate his form with Spain to PSG, the capital club could be more open to selling the player when the January transfer window opens.
In October, journalist Laurent Perrin notes that Ruiz isn’t for sale and hints that the club want the entire season to see if they can tap into the form he shows with Spain. However, it’s been close to two months and Ruiz is failing to impress.
“What is the real level of Fabian Ruiz, the one from the Euros or the one from PSG? The debate remains open,” Perrin noted. “But he is not for sale. Luis Enrique likes him a lot and played him frequently at the end of last season.
“If he performs better with Spain, it is probably because he has much more freedom in his play. He seems more at ease, more fulfilled. With La Roja, he takes on responsibilities that he seems to shy away from in Paris.”
Are PSG willing to sell Fabián Ruiz in January?
Atleti Francia reported on Wednesday that Ruiz would currently be close to joining Atlético de Madrid. The source doesn’t reveal how much the Spanish side would be willing to pay for the 28-year-old who is under contract until 2027.
While the report does not mention a potential amount, Transfermarkt does put the player’s transfer value at €35 million.
