Pharmaceutical entrepreneur, Rod Bransgrove, rescued the club from insolvency in 1999 — spending much of his own money developing the Rose Bowl international cricket venue, in Southampton, which has since been named the Ageas Bowl and the Utilita Bowl.
He will be sharing his story at an event held at the Newclose Cricket Pavilion, Newport, on Tuesday evening (December 10).
Newclose and thousands of Island cricket fans have since benefited from Hampshire bringing teams to play on the ground, including a five-day County Championship match against Nottinghamshire in 2019.
Also guest speaking with Rod will be cricket journalist Ivo Tennant, who wrote a fascinating account of how Rod saved the club, with his new book, Back from the Brink.
The Times and The Cricketer writer, also first reported that GMR, which owns Indian Premier League club, the Delhi Capitals, agreed terms to purchase Hampshire Cricket for £120 million in September.
A question and answer session will follow the talk, with attendees given a signed copy of the book.
The evening will be hosted by Hampshire sports writer, Mike Vimpany, with the event beginning at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £10 and also includes a limited edition print of Cricket at Newclose, signed by its artist, Jocelyn Galsworthy.
