Futures Mixed Ahead Of Imminent Jobs Report

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and other major indexes traded mixed in premarket action Friday, with another jobs report for November due shortly. An early earnings winner on the stock market today was Lululemon Athletica (LULU).

Ahead of the opening bell, Dow Jones futures fell 0.1%, as did S&P 500 futures. Tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 futures inched higher in morning trades.

Early Friday, the 10-year Treasury yield edged lower to 4.18%. Oil prices dropped, as West Texas Intermediate futures traded around $67.70 per barrel.

Among exchange traded funds, the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) rose a fraction, while the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) edged lower ahead of the open.

Stock Market Today: Jobs Report

Lululemon soared more than 9% in premarket trading after the retailer reported better-than-expected results for the third quarter and lifted its full-year forecast.

Other key earnings movers Friday morning include Argan (AGX), DocuSign (DOCU), GitLab (GTLB), Samsara (IOT), Ulta Beauty (ULTA) and Veeva Systems (VEEV).

Argan stock jumped more than 5%, while DocuSign shares surged more than 12%. GitLab stock soared 10.5%, set to break out past a 68.69 cup-with-handle entry. Samsara dived nearly 10%. Finally, Ulta stock soared more than 10%, as Veeva shares rallied 7%.

Due out at 8:30 a.m. ET, the Labor Department’s employment report is expected to show that the U.S. economy added 200,000 jobs in November, up from October’s 12,000 increase. The unemployment rate is expected to tick higher to 4.2%, from 4.1%, according to estimates from Econoday.

Dow Jones Falls

On Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped nearly 0.6%, while the S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite both dipped nearly 0.2%. But small caps sharply underperformed as the Russell 2000 index lost 1.3%.

Among the best companies to watch on the stock market today are Embraer (ERJ), Taylor Morrison Home (TMHC), TJX (TJX) and Tradeweb Markets (TW).

Dow Jones components making notable moves were Amazon.com (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT) and Travelers (TRV).

Dow Jones: Travelers Eyes Buy Point

Dow Jones leader Travelers is just below a 269.05 buy point in a cup-with-handle base, according to MarketSurge pattern recognition. Shareslost 0.9% Friday.

Outside the Dow Jones index, IBD Leaderboard stock Taylor Morrison is back at its 50-day line and below a 71.95 buy point amid recent losses. Shares rose 0.2% early Friday.

Embraer reclaimed a 37.30 flat-base entry after Thursday’s rally. Shares inched higher Friday morning.

Retailer TJX is above a 121.13 flat-base entry and in buy range following strong gains. TJX stock added 0.4% in early Friday trading.

Finally, Tradeweb closed Thursday right at a 136.13 entry in a flat base. Tradeweb stock gained 0.1% in premarket action Friday.

Magnificent Seven Stocks: Alphabet, Meta, Tesla

Among Magnificent Seven stocks, Alphabet (GOOGL) lost 0.2% before the opening bell. Shares had plunged below their 50-day line in recent weeks, but are now rebounding.

Meta Platforms (META) is breaking out past a flat base’s 602.95 entry and in buy range. Shares moved down 0.1% Friday.

Tesla rallied 2.4% premarket Friday, looking to add to Thursday’s rally and reach new highs.

Dow Jones Leaders: Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia

Among Dow Jones components in the Magnificent Seven, Amazon stock rallied sharply in recent sessions, decisively retaking a 201.20 buy point and hitting new highs. It added 0.4% in premarket trading Friday.

Shares of Apple are breaking out above a flat base’s 237.49 entry. The stock was down a fraction Friday morning.

Microsoft shares climbed 0.2% Friday morning. The stock closed Wednesday at its highest level since late July.

Nvidia stock fell 0.3% premarket Friday, with the artificial intelligence titan rebounding from the 50-day moving average line. That placed Nvidia stock in a new buy area as shares approach new highs.
