Bologna striker Santiago Castro is already being tipped as a potential successor to Lautaro Martinez at Inter once the Nerazzurri and their captain decide to part ways in the future, according to recent reports in Italy.
Inter see Castro as potential heir to Lautaro Martinez
According to reports from Sport Mediaset, Inter are already following the progress of the 20-year-old centre-forward, as are Juventus.
There are not expected to be any movements on the transfer market in the near future when it comes to Inter and Castro, given that Martinez penned a new, long-term contract extension in August, but his profile is one that is already enticing the Nerazzurri recruitment team.
Castro has also recently been given a new nickname ‘Torito’, given his similarities to the current Inter and Argentina star, who is often referred to as ‘El Toro’.
Castro joined Bologna in the January transfer window in 2024 in a permanent deal from Velez Sarsfield.
He has since gone on to record 10 goal involvements from his first 19 appearances in 2024-25, including four goals and two assists in Serie A and a goal and three assists from his stellar performance against Monza in the Coppa Italia at the beginning of the week.
According to Sport Mediaset’s report, Inter were particularly impressed by Castro’s performance in Bologna’s 4-0 win over Monza.
