Lecce boss Marco Giampaolo admitted his couldn’t match the quality of Roma following their 4-1 loss at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday,
The visitors hung-in well against Claudio Ranieri’s men and went into half time with the score level at 1-1. However, the Giallorossi scored three goals second half to secure their first league win in over a month.
“Roma was simply superior, even technically. Their quality caused us problems,” he told DAZN.
” When we tried to counter, we lacked precision and made poor decisions. They outplayed us, so we’ll take this defeat home and reflect on it.”
He continued, “I made some tactical decisions at the break as we were struggling with numerical disadvantages in certain area, so it was necessary to switch things up. But even after all those adjustments, Roma’s quality still gave us problems.”
“When we needed to transition out of defense, we could’ve done better with our positioning and choices. We had a plan, but it didn’t work. We started the second half more organised, but the goals came from lapses in concentration. Roma is a team that knows exactly what to do with the ball.”
