Group seeks nominations for the 2025 Donald and Marian Spencer Spirit of America Awards

The Donald and Marian Spencer Spirit of America Awards celebrate the couple’s achievements and recognize organizations that have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring greater inclusion and diversity in the Greater Cincinnati community. The awards are presented by the Cincinnatus Association.

The Cincinnatus Association will present the 10th Annual Donald and Marian Spencer Spirit of America Awards Dinner this spring, honoring local Cincinnati area nonprofits and businesses promoting diversity and inclusion.

The selection committee is asking for nominees from the community that exemplify the true spirit of community service and commitment while promoting the value and respect given to people’s differences and their efforts to create an environment where everyone feels included.

The Cincinnatus Association is now receiving nominations for the award through Dec. 31.

“When reading the nominations, we receive each year for the Spencer Awards, the outstanding work being done by so many organizations in our community to improve the lives of our citizens is an inspiration to us all. Cincinnatus has this unique opportunity to recognize and share with you the efforts of our honorees to help those in need achieve their ‘Cincinnati Dream’ through their services, education, and inclusion of all citizens” said Susan Noonan, who chairs the Spencer Dinner Committee

What are the Donald and Marian Spencer Spirit of America Awards?

Each year, Cincinnatus selects organizations to honor for their efforts to promote diversity and inclusion. Nonprofits and businesses are both considered for these prestigious awards. The Donald and Marian Spencer Spirit of America Award celebrates the couple’s achievements and recognize organizations that demonstrate commitment to ensuring greater inclusion and diversity in the Greater Cincinnati community.

How do I nominate an organization to be considered?

Fill out the form on the Cincinnatus Association website. It can be mailed, faxed or emailed. Deadline for FAX and email is Dec. 30. Mailed nominations must be postmarked by Dec. 16.

What is the Cincinnatus Association?

The civic group says it is advocating for excellence in education, government, inclusion, and the arts in the community. The members’ mission is to “initiate, recognize, participate in, and promote projects that improve the quality of life for all citizens in the Greater Cincinnati region through, among other things, the study of critical issues confronting the region, the engagement of community leaders, and the nonpartisan shaping of public policy.”

When will the awards be presented?

The awards will be presented on Tuesday, May 20, at the Hyatt Regency, 151 West Fifth St. The ceremony includes a dinner, at 6 p.m. Reservations will be available soon.

Who received the 2024 Donald and Marian Spencer Spirit of America Awards?

The nonprofit award winners were Beech Acres Parenting Center, Findlay Market Corporation, Good Sam Free Health Center and SuperSeeds. The for-profit organization recognized in 2024 was First Financial.
