Deadly crash shuts down all lanes of major Tampa road as police investigate

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A deadly crash has shut down both the northbound and southbound lanes of a major Tampa road, as the police department conducts an investigation.

The crash happened at 2:37 a.m. on Saturday at the 3000 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Tampa.

Tampa police said it involved a single vehicle, and that the victim was taken to a nearby hospital where they later died.

Both directions of Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard are closed from North 30th Street to North 34th Street, as officials conduct an investigation. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route.

The cause of the crash remains unknown.
