Hyderabad to have world’s largest eyewear manufacturing unit

Hyderabad: With a mammoth investment of Rs 1,500 crore, eyewear major Lenskart is reportedly setting up the world’s largest eyewear manufacturing unit in the Fab city of Hyderabad. The plant will produce eyewear, lenses, sunglasses, and accessories.
Lenskart co-founder Amit Chaudhary on Sunday said that the unit will cater to other products as well that cater to India along with exports to other markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, a report in Times of India said. He signed an MoU with the Telangana government at an event marking the one-year of Revanth Reddy government, the report added.
He said the company explored multiple states before finalising Telangana as they were impressed by the state’s speed and ease of doing business, the report added. The MoU was signed in the presence of Telangana Industries and IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
As per the plan, the report added, the manufacturing unit will be established at Fab City, and a piece of land for the same has been identified. TGIIC VC & MD Vishnu Vardhan Reddy the land will be handed over to the company this week, mentioned the report.
He further said that Lenskart may set up a Research and Development facility in Telangana. As per the MoU, the plan will lead to the creation of around 2100 jobs.
