FORT WORTH, Texas — Jason Edwards scored a season-high 30 points to lead Vanderbilt to an 83-74 win over TCU in the USLBM Coast-to-Coast Challenge on Sunday at Dickies Arena.

Edwards’ outburst marked the sixth 30-point game of his career and his first as a Commodore. Vanderbilt (9-1) balanced the scoring with 10 points from Devin McGlockton and nine each from Tyler Nickel and Tyler Tanner.

TCU (5-4) finished with four players with 11 points as Trazarien White, David Punch, Ernest Udeh Jr. and Brendan Wenzel led the scoring for the Frogs.

Sunday’s back-and-forth battle featured 13 ties and 15 lead changes. Neither team led by more the six in the first half with the Dores holding a 41-38 lead at the break thanks to a Tyler Nickel three at the buzzer. Edwards scored 17 of his 30 points in the first 20 minutes.

The tight affair continued in the second half as the Dores and Frogs traded the lead until the midway point. Vanderbilt led 59-58 with nine minutes to play before reeling off a decisive 9-0 run behind four quick points from Jaylen Carey and one of Tyler Tanner’s five steals on the night.

Tanner’s five takeaways mark a career high for the freshman who now has 26 steals and zero turnovers in his first 10 games.

Vanderbilt created 18 TCU turnovers, including 12 steals. The Dores outrebounded TCU 37-29 and held a 15-2 lead in second chance points. Vandy iced the game down the stretch with clutch free-throw shooting, hitting 27-of-33 for the game.

Vanderbilt returns to action on Dec. 18 as the Commodores host The Citadel in Memorial Gymnasium.
