The US owners have looked at the age profile of Inter’s current squad.
The Nerazzurri have relied on veterans to good effect in recent seasons.
This has included a number of high-profile free transfer signings.
But Oaktree want Inter’s squad to get younger.
That naturally entails targeting younger players in the transfer market. Oaktree have signalled their intention to invest cash in signings if they feel a player has room to grow.
Defender Tomas Palacios’s arrival this summer was emblematic of that.
But it’s not just young signings that Oaktree are thinking about.

The Italian international had a long journey.
Dimarco hardly cemented a place for himself in Inter’s senior team right away. It took a number of loan moves away for him to even earn his shot.
But season on season Dimarco has grown.
And the 27-year-old has rewarded Inter for never losing patience with him. He has become a vital component of their starting eleven.
From the perspective of Oaktree, this precisely shows the value of putting trust in players from the academy in the long term.
