Tennessee basketball forward Darlinstone Dubar is out for the Vols’ matchup against Miami in the Jimmy V Classic and is currently in concussion protocol.
Dubar did not participate in Tennessee’s Monday practice but is with the Vols in New York City for the power five matchup.
The Hofstra transfer averaging 4.3 points and three rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game. Dubar missed the Vols’ first four games of the season while dealing with a personal matter. But since returning to the court at the Baha Mar Championship in the Bahamas, Dubar has been a part of Tennessee’s rotation.
Dubar is currently Tennessee’s eighth man due to JP Estrella’s season-ending injury and wing Cam Carr’s thumb injury that has sidelined him for the Vols’ last four games.

With Carr and Estrella out of the rotation, Dubar has played the majority of his minutes as a stretch power forward but is also capable of playing the three-spot in bigger lineups. A 6-foot-6 forward, Dubar averaged 17.8 points while shooting 40% from three-point range last season at Hofstra before transferring to Tennessee.
Tennessee is now down three players for its matchup against Miami with Dubar joining Carr and Estrella. The Vols will mostly play a seven-man rotation with Jordan Gainey and Cade Phillips coming off the bench. Freshman Bishop Boswell could also see some limited minutes.
The Vols are 16.5-point favorites against Miami in the Jimmy V Classic according to the FanDuel Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 144.5.
Rick Barnes’ 10th Tennessee team ascended to the top-spot in the latest AP Poll on Monday afternoon. It’s the third time in program history and the second time in Barnes’ tenure that the Vols have been the No. 1 team in the country.
Tipoff between Tennessee and Miami is at 6:30 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. Dan Shulman, Jay Bilas and Jess Sims are on the call for ESPN.
