Nike, NFL extend partnership through 2038

Date:

Previously, the bidding was open, with several companies in the mix. Now? Not.

The NFL has announced a 10-year extension of its partnership with Nike. The new deal runs through 2038.

Nike has been, since 2012, the “exclusive provider of uniforms and sideline, practice, and baselayer apparel for all 32 NFL teams.”

Nike also has captain a college-style shift between a wide array of alternative uniforms. Fueled in recent years by the NFL’s decision to ditch the rule that teams could have only one helmet for the full season, some teams have a broad array of uniform combinations, with up to three different helmets in a given season.’

With 14 more years, look for more and more combinations. Which will make it harder and harder to know which teams are playing simply by looking at the TV.

Excuse me now while I get off my own lawn.
